The Hermitage
Nestled in Ho Ho Kus is the Hermitage, a house with a beautiful garden, front lawn and patio that is the perfect backdrop for an outdoor celebration. The property also has an indoor space with glass double doors, leading out to a patio that is great for a ceremony or cocktail hour!
A bit about The Hermitage: 245 years ago, George Washington and his men were traveling Ho-Ho-Kus on their way from the recent battle at Monmouth Courthouse to White Plains, New York. They were offered to stay in a beautiful house full of character and charm for 4 days between July 10th and July 14th. This house that they stayed at was The Hermitage in Ho-Ho-Kus, built in 1767. James Monroe, William Paterson, the Marquis de Lafayette, Alexander Hamilton, Lord Sterling, Peggy Shippen Arnold and Aaron Burr were also visitors of the house during the Revolution. The Hermitage now hosts events and tours celebrating the history of the historic sight.
